In Memoriam, Lawrence Egerton

Egerton Law would not be here if not for our founder, Lawrence Egerton, Jr. On March 28, 2020, Mr. Egerton passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 88 years old. Though he is no longer with us, we are proud to pay tribute to him and carry on his legacy of excellence in law.

Our Humble Beginnings

On May 30, 1931, Lawrence Egerton, Jr. was born to the late Lawrence Egerton, Sr. and Mary Grier Egerton, of Greensboro. As a boy, he was an Eagle Scout as well as a talented harmonica player. He could pick up any tune just by hearing it once.

A lifelong North Carolinian, Mr. Egerton graduated from Greensboro Senior High in 1948 and completed his undergraduate degree at The University of North Carolina in 1952. After college, he served in the United States Air Force in Morocco until 1954.

Upon returning home, he earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law, graduating in 1956. Lawrence Egerton was far more than an attorney. An avid entrepreneur, he founded several companies including Tech Panel, U Fill’er Up, Business Fuels, Lube World and TLC Media.

A Local Legend

He went on to found Egerton Law to advocate for injury survivors, workers and their family members. His legal prowess was well-known, and he soon earned a reputation as one of the area’s premier personal injury attorneys. But it was his commercials playing the harmonica that helped make Lawrence Egerton, Jr. a local celebrity.

More than 60 years later, his law firm is still standing strong. People from across the state come to Egerton Law to build lifelong relationships with the firm that Mr. Egerton established. We will continue to honor him by providing outstanding legal advocacy to the people of North Carolina for what we hope will be many more decades.
