A native of Kernersville, North Carolina, 20-year-old Briana Latrice Gather, had her life cut short this weekend.

Briana’s death resulted several hours after a single-car crash she was in near Greenville, where she was a student at East Carolina University. She was a member of the current Delta Sigma Theta sorority pledge class.

The accident happened on November 20, 2010 shortly before dawn. The driver, Kamil Shaunay Arrington, 20, of Nash County, ran off the road and struck a tree. Though the investigation is ongoing, authorities do not expect that alcohol contributed to the fatal wreck.

Another passenger, Victoria T’nya Carter, 20, of Raleigh, died at the scene of the tragic accident.
