Xarelto is a blood thinner medication manufactured by Bayer Pharmaceuticals and distributed by Johnson and Johnson through a subsidiary, Janssen. Xarelto may cause serious bleeding incidents, such as gastrointestinal bleeds or brain bleeds. What makes Xarelto more dangerous than other similar products is that there is no available antidote to stop bleeds.
Over 10,000 claims filed by injured consumers are still pending resolution in a consolidated court proceeding in Louisiana. The first trial has been scheduled for March 2017.
