Products liability cases against Johnson & Johnson number in the tens of thousands. These claims are for people injured after receiving medical implants, taking prescription medication, and using products such as Shower to Shower or baby powder.

Verdicts against the manufacturer have reached numbers over $300Million for a single individual diagnosed with cancer after using the talcum powder products.

Over the years, thousands of women have been exposed to marketing campaigns encouraging use of the powder, believing it to pose no threat to their health. The lawsuits claim that Johnson & Johnson has known for decades that its talc-based products contain asbestos and can cause a multitiude of health problems, including mesothelioma and ovarian cancer.  Documents uncovered during the trials support these allegations, as recent media coverage has reported.

In the most recent case to go to trial, Johnson & Johnson agreed to a compromise settlement of over $2Million.  Despite the settlement, the manufacturer still claims that its talcum powder products are safe and do not cause ovarian cancer or mesothelioma.
