Pedestrians Struck, Brittany Blakely Killed by Drunk Driver

Brittany Blakely, 18, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on October 24, 2010 because of injuries she sustained after being struck by a vehicle.

Brittany was walking on Cox Street in Asheboro with three other friends when the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, October 23.

Seriously injured was Christopher Clanton, 17. He is still at Baptist Hospital as of October 25, 2010.

Also injured was Megan Potaznick, 20. She was treated at Randolph Hospital before being released. Another pedestrian with the group was not injured.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2010, police arrested Jesus Gonzalez Morales, 27, of Candor. He is alleged to have been drunk driving a stolen vehicle with a suspended license. He has also been charged with felony hit and run for fleeing the scene after the fatal collision.
