A head-on collision claimed the life of James McNeill, 57, of Ramseur, on NC 42 south of U.S. 64 in Randolph County near Asheboro, NC on the morning of October 4, 2010. Paul Wesley Wilkerson, 36, of Franklinville, was driving his GMC pickup truck when he crossed the double yellow lines and hit James McNeill’s Nissan Sentra head-on. Trooper Greg Ingram said “inattentiveness” caused the accident and it’s possible that Mr. Wilkerson feel asleep while driving. He’s been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and reckless driving. He was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment on non-life threatening injuries. NC Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, but an accident report is available by clicking here.
