On the afternoon of September 21, 2010, Bill Aycock was driving his Toyota 4Runner on Commerce Place in downtown Greensboro when another driver in a Geo ran a red light at Friendly Avenue. Mr. Aycock said he hit his brakes, but the two vehicles collided in the intersection nonetheless. The front airbags of the Geo were deployed. The driver was transported to an area hospital via EMS. Mr. Aycock said his neck was beginning to get stiff, but appeared to be otherwise unharmed.
