Teenage Passenger Dies in Burlington Car Crash

Shanqula Octavia Blackman of Burlington died on April 7, 2011 when the car she was riding in drove off the road and hit a pole. Shanqula was only 19-years-old at the time of her death.

Ashante Shaniece Leath, 21, also of Burlington, was driving the vehicle at the time of the car crash. She has since been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, driving left of center and failing to reduce speed.

Leath was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center where she received treatment for injuries and was released. Another passenger, Kaquanna Shymale Woods, 21, from Burlington, was reportedly not injured during the wreck.
