Phillip Cagle of Carthage, N.C., dies from wreck injuries

Phillip Cagle of Carthage has died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle wreck on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 on Joel Road in Moore County, North Carolina.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Cagle, age 41, was a passenger in a 1988 Ford Bronco driven by Thomas Speer, 23, of Cameron. Trooper J.T. Gaddy reported that Speer was driving north at 5 p.m. when he drove the vehicle off the side of the right side of the road, pulled back onto the road, swerved across the center line and drove off the left side of the road. The vehicle flipped and landed on its roof.

Both men were taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Speer was treated and released. Cagle was pronounced dead on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010.

The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending. Our heart goes out to the family of the victim in their time of grief.
