Double Fatality on Hwy 65 at Hwy 220 in Rockingham County, NC

Two people are dead after a car crash at the intersection of Highway 220 and Highway 65 in southern Rockingham County, North Carolina. The victims’ names have not yet been released.

A Geo Metro travelling on Highway 65 around noon on Friday, April 1, 2011 failed to yield the right of way to a Mercury Mountaineer. The driver and passenger in the Metro were killed instantly and the SUV flipped onto its side, according to Trooper John Thomas.

The driver of the SUV was transported to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro with serious injuries, be he was reportedly conscious and alert.
