Kurt B. Aktug graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina, where he earned his degree in English and Political Science. He then studied at the University of Akron in Ohio, earning his Law degree in 1997. He is currently licensed to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the U.S. District Court.

After law school, Kurt moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina to work for a law firm that focused on personal injury, automobile accidents, workers' compensation and social security disability. He moved to North Carolina and came to work for Egerton & Associates in 2004, where he continues to work as the firm's litigator, focusing on auto accidents, medical malpractice, alcohol cases and general civil litigation. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.
